Okay guys, here is another one I have. Got his one in the mail about a week ago. It is a 1913 S cent, with what appears to be a clip on it. It might just be damage, but I wanted to see with you guys and what your opinions were. Thanks ahead of time. Phoenix
I don't think that is a clip. i think it's post mint. Please wait for mike or others to comment. Do I see doubling in 'TRUST" ?
That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure. Be neat if it did turn out to be a clip. Phoenix
I'll play dangerous and go against the croud on this one and say clip. Don't pitch it yet. Check the opposite side of the coin of what appears to be a clip an see if there is a bit of flatness to the rim.
It's a genuine clip. These are often termed "rim clips" or "disc clips". The gradual fadeout and taper of the rim is a sign of authenticity.
Wow, sweet! Awesome, thanks Mike. It's still going in my book, but I can put under it "clip". Does this add any value to it? Thanks for the help! Phoenix
Cool, thanks mike. :thumb: It's a pretty neat error, on an older semi-key coin. Thanks for the help! :thumb: Phoenix
Thanks! BTW, looking more at the coin, what is that by the 1 and 3 in the date? Damage, or planchet flaws? Just curious. Thanks for all the help again. Phoenix
I can't tell from here. It would require close examination under a microscope, and even then it might prove difficult, given the worn condition of the coin.
