I dont know the answer but this is not a stupit question. Your being safe and that´s a big thing with collecting coins and everything that has to do with it.

I use car wax to clean the slabs, and take out the scratches.

If you improperly conserve your slab it may only be worth melt. Lol

On a serious note some car wax should do the trick just be careful with it

Are you talking about the storage boxes? I put them in the dish washer. But make sure that the dryer is off, mine melted one.

You can find it in the auto section of your local store.

I use a lens cloth to wipe down my slabs if they get finger prints.

eye glasses cloth would work as well

I use Slab-Renew. It's better to apply it gently twice, than vigorously once.

He asked about cleaning not removing scratches.

I think it's safe to assume that what he really meant was removing scratches. So, how exactly does your post add anything to the thread besides taunting the others who have offered suggestions??

I was asking for a bit of both worlds, cleaning and removing scratches as well

For just cleaning I use a dry soft cloth. To remove sticker goo (i.e. the ones Teletrade puts on over the hologram) a little WD-40 on a Q-tip takes it right off. I also have on occasion gotten some dirty ones - like they had sat exposed on display for years without dusting. Again just a dry cloth and maybe a Q-tip to clean the crevices. I've yet to need to use any liquid cleaner on them.

For scratches the headlight restorer works well, but I don't use the abrasive pads, just the polishing compound and a soft cloth. If the scratches are to the point that that does not work I either deal with them or get them re-slabbed. TT did this for me once for free.

I don't think it was safe to make that assumption and other than X115 no one offered suggestions related to the actual question. My comment was intended to focus the discussion back on the actual question. I see this happen frequently on forums, someone asks a question and gets a lot of commentary but not an actual answer to the question.

I couldn't agree with you more in general but think in this "case" the problem lies in the vagueness of the OP's question.

Wow, I actually tried the WD-40 on a Qtip trick, and it works amazingly well for very stubborn sticky label mess. Little worried about the fumes causing issues once I put the slabs enclosed small storage container.

And you should be worried about it. WD-40 may work but it is not a good idea. A little alcohol or acetone on a piece of cloth is much better for they will evaporate and not leave anything behind with harmful fumes and gasses like WD-40 will.
