After many, many years of collecting I finally realized just how fascinating our many years of classis silver commems had become. During my time at the ANA Summer Session I had the opportunity to spend hours examining the ANA collection. Now, for the first time, I got the chance to see for sale the largest assortment I can remember. They are being offerred in the Teletrade CAC Auction on Sept. 2. I don't think I'll be bidding but just the "eye candy" is amazing. If I ever won the lottery I know what I would collect; but see for yourself!
Guy, Did you get a chance to see the set of Commems on display in the ANA Museum? Almost every coin is the highest known grade and most are beautifully toned. Larry Shephard (ANA Executive Director) put the set together and sold it a few years ago.
I've recently begun a collection endeavor directed at acquiring the "classic commem's". I've admired them from afar for oh too long.....
I got to see those. I stood there quite awhile a few times. Mine are nice and almost done but those are just Stud Comems!!
Nah, ain't gonna think that will ever happen. I know that the pearly gates of coins can leave a man hungry but I'm just thankful for the scraps....
