    And its a doozy!

I've had my eye on this piece on Ebay for quite a while, and finally decided to buy it as a graduation present to myself. Apparently the 7070 doesn't have a slot for classic commem's, so it won't be going in my Registry, but the beauty of collecting is that I can define my set however I choose. This piece is now a part of my set!

It is graded as an NGC MS-65 * PL - and deserves every bit of that. The fields are deeply reflective, and the devices are show very strong cameo effect (enough that if this were a proof, it would earn a UCAM designation, easily). There is light golden toning around the edges, fading to a red/orange color on the obverse. Of course, my pictures only begin to hint at what this coin looks like.

So, the Classic Commem slot has been filled in my Prooflike Type Set. My set is making decent progress, but unfortunately the next phase is going to be much more expensive, now that I've gotten most of the moderns out of the way.

Wow, nice Columbian Exposition commemorative half. Those are so hard to find in uncirculated condition due to the fact that so many of them actually saw circulation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries when the half dollar was still a popular coin for use in daily commerce.

Nice Coin! BTW I ahve the 7070 and it has slots for four commemorative halfs and one modern commerative dollar

  8. I'm working on a 7070 as well. I have an AU Stone Mountain and a MS Columbian 1893...But it's definitely not as nice as the above coin.

Nice commem. So many of these were given out or purchased at the expo.

The album itself might, I have no idea. I'm putting my set together on the NGC Registry, which they call the "7070 plus gold", so all I really know is which slots their set has.

You can add pages if you want to for early commems in your 7070. But that one is graded and I'd say DON"T crack that out to put it in there :p
    Just ask Illini...
    Nice coin!

  14. Yes, my 7070 says "Commemorative Half Dollars" I decided to fill them up with early halves. And again, very nice coin!

Very cool Columbian! and yeah... definitely don't crack it out and put it in an album ;) The 7070 set on the Registry is the way to go for something like that!
