BACK/ no legend, Victory standing facing on prow, head left, resting left hand on shield, holding sceptre in right. Mintmark SMK Gamma. Ref: RIC VII Cyzicus 93. Gamma = R3
Nice one. Great example.... I have a similar one, not nearly as nice as yours, but it must be from another mint... however the mintmark was struck off the coin, so I don't know which one. Mine also has a wreath in the left field of the reverse.... I don't know if that gives any hint as to what mint it was struck at.... --------------------------------------------- obv: CONSTAN-TINOPOLIS - Laureate, helmeted bust left, holding scepter and wearing imperial mantle. rev: Victory standing on prow of galley, holding long scepter in right hand, and resting left hand on shield. I prefer the style of yours Yours also seems to have the legend 'CONSTAN TINOPOLI', whereas mine is 'CONSTAN TINOPOLIS' with an 'S' at the end. I hope your coin is every bit as nice as you expected when you recieve it.
I fascinated by the varieties that are available. When I researched this one I came across several that were slightly different. Out of all of them (that were for sale) this one was the nicest in that price range. Price/condition dictated my purchasing it rather than rarity or variety.
