I just found this 1934D Silver Certificate in change a few weeks ago. I know it's not rare or in good condition, but it's unusual to see these still circulating. Before I recently got interested in currency I would have just spent this, but I look at everything I get in change now. I just thought it was cool to find one of these.

What an excellent find in circulation! I am impressed it survived so long. Very cool Bruce.

Very Nice! You don't see them in Fine condition circulating since the 1930's!

That's pretty cool, I've never gotten one. I've gotten a few red seals but that's about it.

I have gotten some SC $1's and some red seal deuces, but I have never gotten an SC $5 or $10 - so that is a pretty decent find.

Chances are it didn't. Most likely an older person spending it because they can't afford to keep it anymore and don't know where/how to sell it. Then there's the classic kid spending their parents old money. Same way a lot of the really old coins in excellent shape make it back into circulation.

Neat find! At my place of business a coworker of mine found a SC five, I myself have found a couple $1 SC and red seal 2. No fivers though, cool!

I agree with lincolncent, it probably came from someone's collection. Whatever the case, I'm happy to have found it circulating. Thanks for all the comments guys.

Series 1934D did not start until mid 1949.
