Good article on coinweek regarding the possible use of liberty on circulating coins. It gives better details of how it would work unlike the older article I posted. http://www.coinweek.com/commemorati...l-aims-to-revitalize-modern-american-coinage/
It makes good sense... coins depicting Liberty, regardless of denomination, are by far and away the most beautiful of all U.S. coins. I would love to see Miss Liberty once again adorning our coinage.
If the designs are anything like the NA Dollar or the State Parks series, I'll be all for it. If they are more like the revised nickel, 2009 cents, or the state quarters I hope congress denies the idea.
I'm all for seeing Miss Liberty on our coinage . I think the half dollar being held to one design a decade is too little , better every other year or every 5 years . Another thing I would like to see is the use of some of our pattern coins that were never used and are quite beautiful , perhaps nicer than the designs chosen . Anyways anything over the long used presidents would be better . IMHO
Congress no longer believes in liberty - it might be a hard sell. At any rate, if the designs end up being the same lifeless, digitized, low-profile crap we have now, who cares?
