A new Emperor, reverse figure and new mint for my collection, all on one coin. I love the way the legends are so long they needed to start an inner inscription. CILICIA. Seleucia ad Calycadnum. Impressive coin with a great obverse. I love big Provincial bronzes in general, but this mint has some particularly fun designs. (I also like how "busy" they are with legends running all over the place.) Here is my AE from Cilcia, Seleucia al Calycadnum, struck just a few years later under Philip I (with a less-than-flattering portrait in typical mid-3rd cent. Cilician style!). Cilicia, Seleucia ad Calycadnum. Philip I AE Großbronze (Hexassarion? 34 - 37mm, 23,74g, 6h), c. 244-249 CE. Obv: ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΙΟΥΛΙΟϹ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟϹ ϹƐΒ. Radiate, cuirassed bust right. Rev: ϹƐΛƐΥΚƐΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΠΡΟϹ ΤΩ ΚΑΛΥΚΑ / ƐΛƐΥΘƐΡΑϹ. Confronted busts of Apollo, on left, and Artemis-Tyche, on right Ref/Prov:RPC VIII 70283 Temp.
