If you had the choice to pick a year set from 1934 to 2005 (EXCLUDING 1955 and 1975) what year would you pick? For myself,I would pick the 1936. What about you? ;) B12

Is this proof or UNC or just circulated....if proof...1936....if UNC...1949 or 1934 (because of the Peace Dollar)...if circulated...I don't know...

1964 if you include that Peace dollar that they supposedly destroyed.

I actually have date sets,at least MS-60 for each coin and all Philly mint.,from 1934-1953.My favorites are the two years with 2 nickels in each,1938 and 1942.Next woud be 1934-35 with the peace dollars. They're in Capitol plastics holders that were designed to hold proof sets.

Love Year Sets and Proof Sets

Mikjo0 you are a collector after my own heart. I must admit that just seeing pics of your year sets gives me thrills. I too collect year sets (mostly proof sets), but I have collected year sets to honor my family members--1934,35,37,41,47.
I perfer BU coins for my sets and I have decided to sell most all my low grade silvers and purchase the BU coins I need to complete or make up the year sets.

My favorite would have to be my 1934P year set I put together to honor my biological Father. I have this set in a capitol holder that says proof set. I gave this set to my Father and explained that the only proof about this set is the proof that I love him. :)

    Fyi

I'm not trying to a smart a-- but there were no proof sets made in 1934. I wish there were because I would love to have one.

Thanks Walter.I found a way to put them in albums.I bought some pages designed for currency, took the Capitol holders and poked a hole through the plastic to accomodate one of the screws in the holder which fastens it to the page. That way they can't slip loose. If you look closely at the pic, you'll see that the top screw is above the plastic and the bottom one is under.

    Thanks For Sharing

Thanks for sharing that idea/concept Mikjo0. I like storing my collections in "D" ring binders because to me they are much easier to view and keep organized. My coin club buddies are all impressed in the way that I have my proof sets (the breakouts in 2X2's) displayed in these binders.
I have recently found a product that will allow me to store my flat packs of proofs in this same fashion. I find pulling the packs out of the envelopes everytime I want to view my collection a pain. To say the least of the wear and tear on the original packaging.
Again seeing your collection as really inspired me to work on a series of BU year sets. I do mean 1964 and earlier for sure.
I will have to look into getting some holders like you have to be able to add the Peace Dollar and the two nickel war year. I REALLY LIKE THAT!!!
