I found these just the other day and I thought they were very interesting looking. Of course I have always been fascinated by unicorns, its the chick in me I suspect.

Anyway, I tried to find out information on them but didn't find much other than they were made from 94-97. I was wondering if they are rare. They seem to be expensive. Can anyone give me some info on them. Thanks so much. :smile

The Chinese have money... lots of people over there are doing very well. They are currently looking to repatriate a lot of their coins and collectibles that were sold overseas. Basically the Chinese people are causing a high demand by buying their own coins back.

Oh. Ok. Thanks for the info :)

I see there is the 5 Yuan and the 10 Yuan. I think the difference is the 10 is 1 troy ounce of silver. Is this correct?

This website has a lot of information regarding Chinese minted coinage. The forum especially has a lot of information, if you dig a little. http://china-mint.info/

If you check out 1994-97, you'll see that you are correct about the silver content - 10Y is 1oz, 5Y is 20g.

Thanks so much :) I'll check it out.
Hmm, dunno if a 5Y is worth it.
