I love the stunning beauty of the Silver Panda coins. These simple, elegant and purely gracefull designs have been issued since 1983. The Panda coins have almost always had a yearly design unique to that year. The only exception was the 2001 and 2002 issues. Both years carried the same design. I remember the China mint issuing a news report that they were no longer going to change the design every year. I do not know why they changed their mind in 2003, but i am glad they did. Throughout the years the Panda has eben issued, there have been Uncirculated and Proof issues in both Silver and Gold. To tell the proof and unc coins apart howver, is quite complicated. So much so, that i have not been able to tell a sure fire way of telling them apart. Some Unciculated issues have mirrored fields, while other proof issues have a frosted field. Still further complicating the differences are the mints used to mint each coin. China does not use mint marks like the USA does. In fact, in certain years there are minor variations in the coin design that allow the originating mint to be determined, such as minting year size, or temple. An example is in 1996 where different mints produced coins with minor a variation that can be distinguished from the font size of the year on the obverse sides of the coins. While i have not been able to find a source that will list all the varieties of these 'variations' and how to tell an Unc coin from a proof for each year, but it doesnt really matter when looking at the con - it is still a beautiful coin! To see my collection of the Pandas i have collected thus far... I have 12 Silver Panda's and 2 other commemorative silver issues... at least i think the other 2 are commemorative issues lol Thanks for looking, and please - Enjoy the Panda's
Great looking Pandas I put up a post about buying 21 unc gem BU 1989 thru 2009 thanks for your help with that thread. Would you know of any dealers that would have that many dates for sale. Thanks Randy.
Panda America would certainly have them, as would Panda USA . Both sites are resellers of the Panda coins.
Great looking coins DJ I have afew of the silver and a few of the (smaller) gold LOL I realy would like to pick up a few more at some stage. Have you seen any of the colorized ones that they put out?
Ebay is another way to obtain them Panda beside all has spoken of where to buy them. Also some local coin shop or shows as well.
Ebay, unfortunately, is a very bad place to buy Pandas. There are so many good quality fakes being sold on Ebay, the likelyhood of buying a real one is less the buying a fake I always liked buying them on Ebay in the past, but with the increase in fakes hitting the market the last few years... its not worth losing my money to save a few bucks on the sale. For Pandas, stay off Ebay, and buy from a known dealer.
I spoke with PandaUSA I spoke with the guys at pandaUSA and they do have what I am looking for and the price is up there.I did my research and 3 of the dates 1991,1992 and 2000 average $120 and 1990,1993,1994,1999 and 2003 average out to $70 a coin and then the other coins average from $30 to $40 for the remaining coins. So if I bought them one by one I would spend over $1100+elsewhere, But since you guys told me about PandaUSA he has all 21 coins and I would be saving almost $200. Thanks Randy
Please post pictures when you get them. Nice gold Panda De Orc! I do not collect the series but do hope to get one example of this type soon!
