It feels and looks cheap and imitation, not genuine, more like a freebie of some sort. However before I chuck it in the "rubbish" tin could someone confirm that it is not a coin or medallion or token of some sort ? Diameter is 40mm, weight 6g. Many thanks Brian.
The inscription on the obverse side is de he tong bao (德和通宝) which means it is a coin of "virtue and harmony". The inscription on the reverse is yi he (颐和). This "coin" comes in many varieties as can be seen here. Some people consider this to be a coin from the Qing Dynasty or a charm. Most people know that it was (or maybe still is) used as a souvenir from the Summer Palace in Beijing which in Chinese is yi he yuan (颐和园). Gary
