Well done for not even attempting to bid. If you are prepared to buy a genuine dollar size Chinese coin, you should be prepared to pay at least 10x of what it went for - genuine Chinese coins are just expensive these days. For that amount of money, you should be buying a catalog to start off with.

If you are willing to go for something smaller, you can still go for half dollar size Yunnan coins and they are still affordable.

I don't blame you. The english fonts don't match and line up, it looks like someone made that at home.

Sometimes that is also the case on genuine coins, spelling errors too.

    That's pretty close. =)

You would have much better luck at flea market only if you know what you are looking at - there's just too many people looking at ebay and unless a lot of people were sleeping, one wouldn't stand much chance of having a steal at Chinese coins. There were a couple coins that I had to go on a price war and turned out to be very expensive quickly.

All these coins are bought from certain sites like Alibaba, where there are Chinese manufacturers lining up to crank out any fake coin you want.
