Hey all, I was on eBay the other day looking for something eye-catching and I found it! I think I'm falling in love with these 1oz. China silver Pandas. I picked up a 2008 one graded MS69 by NGC. I got it for $35, and was wondering if anyone could tell me whether or not thats a good deal? Not that I mind paying a little extra for a nice looking coin, but I'm judt curious. Thanks
Silver spot is about $17.50. You paid a hefty 100% markup from melt value. I have no idea if that is reasonable or if there is much of a market for NGC-graded Silver Pandas. It is always worth its silver content.
Silver Pandas regularly sell for $30-$40. Infact...if I was to ever see a silver panda for less than $30 I'd buy it myself. Early silver Pandas sometimes go for 200% melt, especially the earlier year pandas. And you are right, the 2008 silver Panda is a great looking coin...I have no idea why I don't own it.
Well, compared to the other dates minted it was on the lesser end of the price spectrum. Really are nice looking coins though. I guess they're China's answer to American Silver Eagles haha
I don't follow these. Maybe that is a good price. I'm sure there are price guides for them somewhere.
30-40 is the right price range, and i agree.. if you DO find one selling below 30.. grab it quick! i own a dozen or so, i try to keep up with each new release, and every once in a wghile, grab an earlier year that i dont have. They are beautiful!
I ignore Chinese coins and refuse to consider them. And so should all of you, until they clean up their abysmal counterfeiting.
Well, it arrived today in the mail. Looks even better than in the picture and that's saying a lot!! I'm definitely going to be looking for more of these.
Chinese silver panda's are beautiful coins and do command a bit of a premium...but I sure love them. I don't have right now, but I have them on my list!
