wooo...wtg De Orc just viewed your new notes. Why would they print the custom ones lengthwise...interesting..lol k..had to edit again..lol Why cant the U.S print wonderful, colorful notes like the rest of the world..lol I love the antarctic 'blue' one with the penguins..very kewl!
Thanks Guy's apprecaiated, I started on the antarctic ones cus I thought the penquins looked great LOL Yep those 1930's Custom Gold Unit notes are quite different, I am now looking for books on Chinese banknotes so I can find out more about them I am cant believe just how many local banks issued there own notes
Thank you Derrick my main aim now is to try and find a catalouge in English that deals with China & her pre Comunist banknotes, I am amazed by just how many there are LOL but I do find them facinating. I have just purchased a auction catalog on Evilbay 'John Bull Auctions, Ltd, Chinese Paper Money from The Estate of Viktor & Yekaterina Shmirnov, Part Two June 30, 2007' It deals with Chinese Imperial Issues, Republic Issues, Liberated Areas, Peoples Republic of China, Taiwan, Japanese Puppet Banks, Foreign Banks, Provincial Banks, Military Issues, Small Commercial Banks, Private Banks, Other Notes, some 250+ lots so it should be of help to me in gaining a small understanding of this area of collecting LOL (I hope)

Howdy DeOrc.... That Bank of Communications is a fantastic looking note!! Nice Chinise collection Sir! Regards, RickieB
Thanks Rickie your comments are appreciated greatly The main problem now is finding litriture on them LOL There are so many variations that I know nothing about and the scope of notes is quite frankly astounding I have a booklet on the way that is concerned with the Japanese issues for China, ie Banks in Manchuria, Millitary notes etc so that will be quite a help but so far I cant find anything other than a very well illistrated and useful Catalouge for the China issues
Have you looked at the number of local banks in the US that issued their own currency? There were over 10,000 chartered banks after 1862 issuing notes, and many more than that in the "broken bank" period before 1862. If you wanted one note from every bank that issued them I would not be surprised if you needed 20,000 notes or more.
No cant say that I have as I have not seen any US chartered bank notes for sale on Evilbay UK, what I have seen is Civil war issues that for the most part are out of my reach What I do see though are Chinese banknotes that are available at a price I can afford so I collect them If you have any of these Banknotes could you please post some pics as I would love to see some :thumb:

Yesterday, I attended a very small scale coin fair. I saw a China banknote catalogue book which have the latest prices. I think it is produced in China and are soley writting in Chinese. Anyway, I did not purchase it as I do not need so much info on them.
I have a booklet on the way covering the Japanese issues from the IBNS & I have my eye on a Chinese book concerning the main 4 banks and there issues I have found a number of books issued in china on different aspects & banks but unfortunatly as you say they are in chinese Strangly enough my Coin News arrived yesterday & they have just started a series of articles on Chinese banknotes LOL 1st one was on the Bank of China
I believe due to popularity of early Chinese collectiable banknotes, more books or catalogue will be written in English to cater to English speaking collectors.
