anyone going? it is about ten mins from my house. im excited. http://numismaster.com/ta/inside_numis.jsp?page=CICF
Couple of us it seems. I posted a thread in the ancient section asking this a coupel of weeks back. We should all have a CT lunch.
if you guys get together, I will try to stop by. I work Tuesday-Saturday, so Sunday would be the day for me, but if you schedule a morning meeting I may be able to make that as well
I will be there Friday and Saturday. I attend every year except when it conflicts with EAC and EAC is close by to where I live.
I've never been to a coin show but I live in that area. I'm intrigued. I wish it was open longer on Sunday though. It's only three hours.
Well I will PM all those who I think may go and give out my cell phone. I am thinking getting together late morning or so for a coffee or something.
You should try the Central States Show in Schaumburg this weekend then (Unless you are strictly into foreign and ancients) Much much larger show. There are quite a few shows each year in the northern Illinois area. There is one the first Sunday each month in Schaumburg
I'll be there on Friday & Saturday. This will be my first trip to to Chicago and to this particular coin show. I was looking at the website for the show but didn't see any info on the cost of admission. Is it free? Any tips from people who have attended before? Any good places to eat around the show that are not super expensive? I hope to see many of you there!!
Admission is $5 but that is good for the entire length of the show so if you attend on Friday you don't have to pay again on Saturday. Sunday admission is free. The real killer is not the admission, it's the parking. Make sure when you pay your admission you get a parking voucher. With the voucher the parking is $10 for the day (no in and out privileges), without it it is $15. You can pick up another voucher Saturday. You say you haven't been to Chicago so I can tell you that that is a good rate for parking.
As for eating there is a little food court in the hotel in front of doors to the bourse. Not the cheapest, but not a lot of other options close by.
I apologize, I don't mean to hog this thread. There must be a hundred CT'ers that have sold and bought coins at this show. Last year I handled the sale of three gold coins for my friend, no lie.. And here I am a Lincoln cent guy who is way, way out of his league with these coins. But I had to try and help him. Heritage made it very easy and the transactions went smoothly for me, a novice. I could not attend the show in Rosemont, Illinois but was able to watch the live bidding on Platinum Night.
Here are the other two gold coins. The $2 1/2 dollar 1854 was NGC-AU-55. The $1 dollar 1853 was NGC- MS-63.
I will be at the Central States Show all day Thursday, from 2pm till 7pm. I'm opting for it because next weekend I plan to be in Colorado Srings at the ANA facility. My son and I are going to tour the Museum there. Sort of a delayed Christmas present. :>)
I have to go to a wedding this weekend, but if it's every month then it sounds like something I might want to check out. I actually am almost exclusively into foreign right now. That's why this other one sounds interesting because it seems like an area they highlight. I might take off work Friday and go.
