Chersonesos/Kherson is a place I hope to visit this summer, located in Crimea near Sebastopol. There are extensive ruins there and they have only excavated a small portion. I have visited the ruins of Tyras, down a bit on the Black Sea south of Odessa and it is very fascinating - coins from there are scarcer than hen's teeth and it took a long time and lots of looking both in Ukraine and in Russia to find one.
I hope you have a great trip. I have visited many of Rome's ancient sites, but only Athens for the Greeks. I can spend days wondering around a small ruin, but my wife gets bored within the hour.
Wow, I laughed out loud at JA's comment (back at me ... very good) ... but Bing, c'mon man!! ... I'm a pet lover, not a *pet-lover* ... => my pets are my kids!!
ahahahaha => yah, not my "biological" PAN-kids ... => man, if I was actually there my friend , I would kick your 70 year old arse!! (Chief)
Ahahaha, you sound like you're a wily ol' force to be reckoned with ... you rock, JWH ... ummm? ... and yah, I admit that I am not skilled and/or trained in man-to-old-man combat ... ummm, but I am a savvy mining engineer ... => so if in doubt, I have already asked Brett (a young & simple, yet loyal engineer-in-training) to merely throw dynamite at you (yah, I have no pride) Bing ... man, I love bantering with you!! Cheers
