Can you believe it? I wish I would have went out and bought every box of Cheerios at Wal-Mart in 2000. According to an article on the front cover of Coin World a collector paid $9,999.99 on October 15th in an Ebay auction for one of the 5,500 Cheerios 2000-P Sac dollars. The Sac dollar has been graded by PCGS as MS66 and is the only one (so far) to be graded as such. I'm waiting to find mine at a yard sale...lol
Wal-Mart roll? Almost 10 grand? I suppose I should try and sell my Wal-Mart roll. As much as I'm known for not liking the new dollars I do have an "original Wal-Mart roll". When they started the program I was working midnights. A Wal-Mart not far away. I'd go buy something right after they opened to get my $5 in change. When I had enough for a roll I went to the service desk and asked if I could turn them in for a roll. No problem, then I asked if they could put the store stamp on them. Again, no problem. So I now have an "original" roll from store number whatever it is in Portage, IN. Should I hype it up on ebay? Is it worth a quarter million? Hey there could be mules in there for all I know. LOL. This thread is actually making me consider it. After all, I only have $25 invested in it.
The Cheerios Dollar is popular because pattern collectors are chasing it. It is considered a true modern pattern piece, giving it extra appeal. As Doug as said on here before, be very careful buying one of these, especially if it is advertised as raw. I was actually offered one that was supposed to be in "original packaging" that turned out to be a scam. Luckily, I caught onto it before it cost me any money.
