@Cheech9712 posted this last week and I mentioned how I had never seen one quite so large. Well, imagine my surprise when it showed up today in the mail. Ok I wasn't too surprised since I was notified that it was coming I did some searching and couldn't find an example that goes from rim-to-rim. You can even see where it looks like the die shifted a bit in the "E" of DELAWARE. I contacted the admin over at http://cuds-on-coins.com/ and I will send them in pictures of it to be attributed to Cheech if they choose to add it. How cool is this crack and how cool is Cheech?!?
@Cheech9712 ‘s kindness is yet another example of the fine members here! Great pictures FF. I like the rim to rim crack with horizontal movement on the E. Keep us posted on the attribution.
I agree!! I like collaborations like this one. Teaming amongst members should be encouraged and applauded. It’s a feel good moment!
So I reached out to JC yesterday and tossed the pictures in. They are not good enough or the proper size. Used to be pretty easy. Now there is an 11 step process. yeah..... come on now. Just trying to help people out by providing resources. I don't know how to make sure the pixels are the right size and I don't have a program to zip up files. Would be nice if things were a little easier. How to send your cropped and resized images Email images, limit one coin per email, to JCStevens43@gmail(DOT)com. On the subject line enter date; mint mark and type of die break you have. All images must be in focus and have the proper orientation “don’t rotate the camera when taking the image”. Crop and resize the full obverse and reverse images to 800 x 800 pixels making sure none of the edges are cropped off. This set of images is used to check for any die markers on the coin. Crop and resize the full obverse and reverse images to 350 x 350 pixels making sure none of the edges are cropped off. Crop and resize the die break to pixels to 350 x 350 pixels. If your die break is on the edges leave room for me to add arrows “Do not add your own arrows, pointers or markers”. If your coin has any die markers, image these markers and in your email note what you see or “No Markers Noted”. Images should be attached to the email as zip files/folder. We reserve the right to enhance your images for use on this site. Any submission not following the guidelines above may be rejected. All images out of focus, pixilated, rotated, or glared due to poor lighting will be rejected. Tip; if you don’t crop to a square “Height=Width” you can never get a 350×350 image when you paste your crop into a new image and resize it. If preserved aspect is on and the crop “Height is NOT = to the Width” you can-not get a 350×350 image. You can force a 350×350 only if the original crop is close to “800×796” and not preserve the aspect ratio. Anything else will mess up the aspect ratio which makes any attempt to do an overlay and match it to another coin impossible. Also if the coin is in any way rotated and the orientation is not correct doing an overlay is very hard.
Exactly. I don't need to jump through a bunch of hoops to give you something for your site. Kinda disappointed.
Now I'm not knocking this, just making an observation from a horse's perspective. But this would fall in the category of the Spitting Eagle Morgan Dollar and the Bugs Bunny Franklin Half, and I just think, put a name on it these days, and we're off to the races. But that's one very big die crack, for sure, give it that...
Yeah it's one of those gimmicky names like you mentioned. But the fact that it is rim-to-rim and looks like it is starting to break from the rest of the coin makes it interesting.
Cheech, now understand, I don't to this for just nobody, but I'm going to pull my rank, here, because I think this whole thing just sucks. Here's the biggest crack anybody's ever seen on one of these coins, and these idiots want our Frog to go hopping from lily pad to lily pad before they'll even pay attention to it? What kind of experts are these? By the powers and privileges vested in me, I officially declare this the Cheech CoinTalk coin, or, CCT-001. Be it so ordered...
Straight from the horse's mouth. Honestly though, am I wrong in thinking it's a lot of work to do for someone to post the info on their site? My pictures aren't bad I don't think.
Honestly, I think it's overkill. But then they don't have the coin in hand. And they're not making the representation, you are. So they're asking that you prove it to their satisfaction before they list it. Hey, maybe they got tricked, burned. IDK. But I do think the fussiness has to do with they don't have the coin.
