I saw blueridgesilverhound on YouTube talk about a similar coin recently but I can’t recall what it was or find the video. Can anyone tell me what’s up with the reverse?
What do you see? I see a regular dime. Honestly, what do you think is wrong with it? Also, YouTube coin videos are garbage. Don’t waste your time.
I’m looking at the horizontal lines on the reverse in between the branches that are closest to the torch and the torch, where it should just be flat with nothing.
Maybe die polish lines. I doubt it’s worth more than 10 cents, despite what some YouTube huckster says.
Yea I didn’t expect it to be worth a fortune, just kinda cool looking and wasn’t sure what caused it. And I agree about most YouTube videos being trash... blue ridge is the only one I ever check out because he seems to know a little bit and will at least show you auctions and what things sold for instead of just prattling off a bunch of nonsense and claims with no evidence. I need to get a cherry pickers Guide but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
OK, those lines are fun to see on a coin and not just pmd, so that is good. But it is not really collectible, either. There seems to be some lack of consensus on opinions as to what exactly is causing this or going on with this at the mint, but it may be polishing or some sort of feeder finger problem. Keep it as an interest piece.
Feeder finger problem sounds correct... not because i know what I’m talking about but like I said I had seen the same thing on a YouTube video recently and I believe that’s what he had called it. Thanks for the info!
Ok so I did some digging and found the video I referenced earlier. The pattern is pretty spot on for a match so I’m calling this feeder finger damage most likely...
You know things have been happening in a weird way since I started collecting coins.Found it in the parking lot that's funny because one day I went to my credit union and got out of my car and looked down and there was $22.00 worth of nickels in the parking lot.I think the armored car worker dropped them didn't want to pick them up so he left.
While it is nice to have the 2-volume set of the CPG, I hope you are aware that the vast majority of varieties are not listed in the books. If they were, the set would probably have 20 volumes. Chris
