    It looks XF at best and likely cleaned. I certainly wouldn't pay $1200 for this coin. Is this CSI Grading another in-house false TPG?

    Did you see that this CSI grading company will sell you un-sealed SLABS so you can slab your coins yourself??????

    CSI= COMMONLY STUPID IDIOTS?

    Speedy.....I checked out their website and did notice this. Nothing surprises me anymore, with all the scams on ebay. There will be some unsuspecting people taken in by this self-grading scam, especially for coins that make large price jumps between grades. The 1884-S Morgan is a perfect example of this.

    Just saw one of their coins on Ebay and was checking out their website. They grade according to their own scale - summary "If it looks pretty it gets a high grade". They do at least admit this on the front page of their web site. Sorry - couldn't help posting on this topic. Check out grading information on their home page.

    If "pretty" gets a high grade, then what do "beautiful" or "gorgeous" rate? [IMG]

    All I can say is thank goodness the TPG craze hasn't penetrated the Darkside very far, at least for the present.

    And the best part is that the bidders identities are kept "private" so no one can warn them!

    Gorgeous = MS-300
    Either of the above, and Thalia Elizabeth likes it = MS-400
    Either of the above, and Thalia Elizabeth already owns it = MS-500

    Love the headslap too, BTW. :D

    Here's what I don't understand. The "company" is CSI which is short for "Certified Silver Investments." However, on their website it says they grade for eye appeal not don't worry about cleaning and in no way use the Sheldon grading system. Yet, a direct quote from their site is "The coins we grade are intended more for the fun factor of collecting and not towards the investment quality coins." Yet, the word investment is right in their name. You would have think they would have thought this out a little better. :whistle:
