The Jackson Mich token is amazing, never seen a similarly designed piece. S/B pretty scarce too.

Thanks guys, yes they were found with a metal detector last month when the weather was warm here in Michigan. I have found my share of civil war tokens and good for tokens but never found a civil war token dated 1864 most are dated 1863. The good for token is cool and kinda rare too. From a store here in Michigan. I have a token guy who gives me the info on these things. The 64 is an r3 I believe he told me and worth maybe $18.00. Just fun to find this stuff in the dirt. If you notice, this swastika is reversed from the Nazi symbol. Prior to WWII, the swastika had other than the evil Nazi meanings, in fact, I once saw it on an old boiler in an apartment house. Check this site for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

Hi Jim, I've started to metal detect, but Haven't had much luck. I was wondering if you would please share the model of your detector. I just bought a white's coinmaster, haven't gotten a chance to use it yet.

Hey Zane, Whites are great detectors. My first detector was a Whites. I know use an Explorer Minelab for the last 5 years. The key to successful detecting is Location, Location, Location. Old farm houses in the front yards are the best places. Learn your detector and what it is telling you. Throw some coins that you are shooting for on the ground and swing over them at different heights to hear the different sounds and then go after those sounds. Most old coins are in the 4- 6inch range and deeper. Go and get em. Jim

My Father has a farm, and houses as well as a tannery and a mine were all there in the 1700's. A good place to search I believe : )
