I'm looking for a nice 1925-D merc. Cruising thru E-bay I saw this.....

I did a double-take wondering if these were two different coins......One picture it looks a solid VF, the other quite a bit nicer.......Looks like it may have had a bath in the past....

Appreciate any of your thoughts.....

I wouldn't bid on a coin based upon such images. There's not a good view of the mint-mark and it's hard to tell if/how heavily the piece has been cleaned.

 

the surface of the coin should not have a rough look to it. it looks sand blasted

I definitely agree. The surface looks really rough and has little to no eye appeal in my opinion.

 

Pass on it.
I don't believe that it is the same piece.
