There I was at the coin shop down the street, browsing on a saturday. Not really finding anything that was on my want list and after talking to the proprieter for a while discussing barber series coins and their scarcity in F or better condition I rummaged through his bargain table. Wow, did I ever make out. I found three modern commemorative dollars a 1987 P unc Constitution Bicentennial in the case for $9!!!!! a 1989-S Congress Bicentennial prf in the two piece case minus the half for $12!!!! (both less than silver value!!!!!) and a 1991-S Mount Rushmore prf in the two peice case also minus the half for $20! I snapped them up without a second thought and whistled all the way home.
They were probably in there for more than a year. It was only 12/2005 that silver was less than $10 per oz (I may be off by a couple months).
cheap commems the cheapest commemorative now is $13.50 each. like constitution and olympics. can anyone knew any commemorative lower than that and how much?. and why everything selling right now are without original box and certificate?.
Those are great bargains. I love the Constitution design and it's a great 'bullion coin" when you can find it that low priced. I only own one.
i was in a coinshop today and a guy was buying all the morgans he could get at $12-$13 a piece but when he was offered the commens at $11 - $12 a piece he passed.... same silver .. wasn't interested. go figure... the 3 coin oly set is $34 .. that's 11.30 a piece... oh well.
why not?. at bullion prices. i choose modern commems rather than am eagle bullion coins. now i got 750 cheap commems and 850 bullion am eagle.
I just won the Jefferson Comm. Silver Dollar for $9. Free shipping from Teletrade but bidders fee was $8. Still I thought it was pretty good price for a coin I needed. BTW---ICG MS69. Speedy
I got these from Ebay. Beautiful with no toning and COA's included. Great seller. 1987 Constitution $6.60 1990 Eisenhower $13.01 1993 Jefferson $13.00 1994 Capitol $16.53 Shipping $5.00 Total $54.14
Elaine, because the unsophistacated plubic (the great unwashed) are hungy for coins but since they young, they can't run with the big dogs yet. I can't wait 20 years for my collection to mature to realize a profit and it is only the fun of the collecting itself that keeps me going. In my experience it is somewhat akin to catching a fish when you are 12 years old.
I didn't read anywhere in his post where he stated a $1.00 Commemorative. I read it like he typed it.
