I read some good articles in my new copy of the Numismatist last night. One was on the CCW, the coins community watch group. It lists 10 things to be aware of on ebay, and as a sidebar it talks about it's e-bay watchdog efforts. It lists www.ebay.com/ccw as a link to report listing violations so they can try to resolve them. It seems like a great Idea, and wondered if any of you used this service?
I know of quite a few auctions that have been pulled as a result of a complaint to the CCW. I also know of quite a few that were not pulled after a complaint to the CCW. So sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But for each ebay primary category they have about 6 people on the CCW. And with literally hundreds of thousands of items listed each day - they can't possibly keep up with all of them. So while it's better than doing nothing, it's certainly not a perfect system.
