CCAC Picks Designs For Mark Twain Coins

Thought you all would like to see the new designs for the M ark Twain Gold & Silver Commemoratives.

When are you able to order stuff like this? Those are really awesome designs. I love the obverse on the gold coin and the art on the reverse of the silver.. At least I assume that's what the G and S stand for.

 

Why does the gold coin have a denomination printed on it but not the silver? Just because they are commemorative?

 

Bet the silver denomination will be on the edges.

They'll add a denomination to the reverse of the dollar. Since the pics of the silver are two obverses, there's plenty of room to add a denominations and other legends, WITHOUT MESSING WITH THE DESIGN.

 

The anti-tobacco crowd will object to Clemens' smoking a pipe.

 

Woah, I just realised that the smoke coming out of his pipe turns into the waters reflection. Super cool design right there.

 

I love Twain , and like the gold choice, but the rev. On the silver come on ? There were a lot better choice then that! IMHO. And then they wonder why mint sale are flat.
Quality, design, cost, customer service....

 

You can clearly see that he is smoking a bubble pipe. The 2 people clearly appear to be in a bubble.

Probably remove IGWT from under the book and replace it with ONE DOLLAR.

 

Or 1$ like on the Sacs.

 

That's one of the best coin designs the mint had made in years. About time!

 

Is it just me or doesn't Mark Twain look a lot like Samuel Longhorn Clemens!

I don't buy modern coins but this is likely to be that proverbial exception to the rule.
