    Hello all,

My wife and I went to Reno, NV recently so that she could be in a wedding. A couple of days before the wedding, she and the other bridesmaids were out running around doing their girlie things, so I took a day trip to Carson City. There they have the Nevada State Museum where they have some neat exhibits on the old Carson City mint.

They have some very nice specimens of the CC coins on display, including the $5, $10, and $20 gold pieces along with other silver pieces. They have one of the actual coin presses that was used for minting the coins. They have a neat video on the history of the region and the comstock lode (sp?).

Anyway, I thought it was a neat experience. Carson City was a neat little town with some great scenery around it. I'm not sure that I would take a vaction to Carson City just to see the museum, but it was a neat day trip. Has anyone else been there?

Sure beats being dragged around town looking at shoes and other "girlie" things. Kill me now why don't ya?

My parents stopped by there when I was a kid, and being a kid I didn't really appreciate it, but I would love to go back. I still have the book Mint Mark: CC The story of the Carson City Mint. The best thing in it is the mintage figures by year and denomination.
