Wow! Almost 6 grand? I hope for the buyer's sake that those scratches appearing on the obverse are actually on the holder!

Also notice it has private bidder screen. I am new to this, but a MS64 would not have usually have large scratches on the face. Is that correct?

On Morgans the high point is the face...no it wouldn't have a mark....I'm not sure the long mark is on the coin...the coin is in a hard case BUT I also see little bag marks on the cheak and there are sooo many no grading co would grade it MS64PL...IMO

You can find many nice 1878 CC for a LOT cheaper than that date...

Seems like I am on the same page. I would guess MS60, but might go 61 because of the holder. Im not all up on how well the 79s were struck, but still I think its at least 3 grades to high.

Per the auction "Grading of coins is subjective. Certifying companies frequently assign different grades to the same coin".

Amazing amount of "wriggle room" in a word like subjective.

    Shady shady.
