I have $80 dollars of Kennedy Halves that I am going to cash in...what would you get in return? Pennies Nickels Dimes Quarters Halves Dollars
I would cash in the halves at my dump bank and get nickels from another bank. I like nickels since they usually give me keepers every search.
Depends on what you like to do, looking for varieties...pennys or nickles. Looking for silver, dimes, quarters or halves.
Like mr flute said I'd dump them and get coin at another bank. Also like he said I'd get nickels because there is more to find than just silver. But it just depends what you're searching for.
I'd def do nickels then because you can find really nice pre 60 Jefferson's, buffaloes, liberties, or silver war nickels.
If you want keepable coins, pennies always give wheats and nickels always give love... also known as pre 60s wars buffs v's lol
This is kind of a tough question as it all depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you don't plan on going back to the bank soon then you could get 3 cases and 10 rolls of pennies and have plenty to search through. If you can turn that $80 over with multiple bank visits then churn dimes for silver. If you want to find a higher number of keepers, as stated before nickels give a good bang for the buck. Halves offer the biggest chance for a big score, but with $80 you are likely to get completely skunked. I think a case can be made for any denomination but quarters.
Thank you for all the great ideas. I think im going to take a hundred dollars to the bank and get some nickels and dimes....and just keep repeating the process.
Why not just spend them at the supermarket. Younger clerks have often never even seen one before. Who knows, you may create a future collector.
That's exactly why I don't spend my halves. I don't want more local people roll searching in my silver pool! There recently was a man who dumped over $7,000 in halves at one time at a dump bank of mine, and their machine has been "out of order" for over a month now, and they're probably going to set limit restrictions.
I bought some cat food at the supermarket a week ago and paid for it with Kennedys (mostly 1990s vintage) and the clerk had never seen one. She had to call her manager over to confirm they were real before he told her yes, then bought them from her drawer and put them in his pocket.
