    crispy1995 Spending Toms like crazy**

While selling school dance tickets, I found and bought a 1963 $1, '71A and '81 $1's. Also in there that was a $5 star, a '88-A and '93 $1, but I only had $3: two quarters, some halves and a single. Got some stares from that. No value, but I keep anything before 1995. What a hoarder I am.

    received a $1 1963 Series B yesterday in change.

Keep coming close to spending it. Pretty worn but not torn.

The Barr notes? I bought one from a friend for $1.25, only stating that it was old-- not that Joe Barr only spent a month in office!

    Are Barr notes more collectable?

A Barr note is just a term refering to the 1963 notes. He was the secretary of treasury then. That is all they are I think. I might be wrong. Someone correct me if I am wrong, I just thought that is why people call them Barr notes.

i think it's because BARR was only in office like 45 days or someting.

i don't recall his term, but it was very short. At first, this caused barr notes to be worth a premium... but people didn't realize just how many barr notes were printed. there was a high quantity printed, which then brought the value considerably down
