I am looking at buying this Julius Caesar denarius but am not convinced it's authentic from the sellers pictures. What do you all think? I am leaning to it being ok but I far from an expert. He gives it a weight of 3.61 grams an 19mm in diameter. Caesar denarius.png

Have you checked it against the known fakes? I don't have the time just now, but from I can see, it looks fine. Make sure you do your part by checking against those fake databases, and the NFSL on FAC.

My recommendation is not to buy a coin like that from some random eBay seller you don't know if you have to ask whether it's authentic or not. Know the coin or know the seller.

FWIW, the seller is on Warren Esty's fake seller list and reports his location on eBay as UK but feedback indicates Bulgaria.

From the photos it looks like it may be OK to me (although I'm not convinced either)...and I'm wrong about as often as I'm right. The high relative value of coins of this type makes me wary. I'd check the 'sources' as Bing mentions and I'd have to be totally comfortable with the seller.

Hmmm, Red just posted and since the seller is on a 'fake seller list' I'd pass on it.

Here's an acsearch listing of the type/sale prices:

I thank you all for the help. I will keep away from this coin and seller.

yeah, i've noticed that a lot of the sellers from the "land of the phonies" are listing on ebay they are from Germany etc. i was watch an otho coin that sold last nite for 127.50 usd, that same coin (or one exactly like it)was sold last month from Bulgaria and i suspect still is. ars-romana was that sellers name. and uniques77777 is from bulgaria, listing her "coins" from the car dashboard. and i wouldn't put too much trust in pash_kame either. (look at names they used to go by)
