There was a similar CC dollar recently with the same awesome reverse and some bagmarks on the obverse ( similar to this) I said MS-62, it was an NGC MS-64. I'll go MS-63 on this one, no higher ( IMO) . The big photo really shows the hits on the face, but the reverse is gem....I still can't go MS-64 though. I'm kinda neutral on the slice of toning/ leaning to disliking it.
As much as it may stick in the craw of people trying to get a handle on grading, the GSA CC's are a real pain in the neck because they don't follow the rules of the grading guides. My bet is on MS64. Chris
I would call it a 63, but I'm not a professional. I could see them bumping it for the toning and the fact that it is a "Top 100" VAM, VAM 5 to be exact. Congrats and she's a beauty, I'm jealous.
NGC wouldn't bump the grade for toning. If anything, they would give it a star (*) for eye appeal, but I don't think the scant toning on the obverse would warrant a star. Also, the fact that it is a "Top 100" has no effect on the grade. Chris
