Carson City Morgans

Hello CT, I was at a flea market this morning searching for silver dimes and quarters. I was looking through a stack of mixed Morgans and Peace dollars. All the coins in the stack were priced at $28. I don't know too much about Peace and Morgan dollars so decided not to buy. However, I noticed one of the Morgan dollars was a CC. When I came home I got out my 2012 redbook and noticed that the lowest price I could find on a CC Morgan of any date is $100. My question is did I miss a great buy or are there CC Morgans out there that sell for $28? The coin was in pretty good condition. All of the features were sharp and the details were still highly visible.

If it was real - yes - it was probably a miss

 

It's difficult to say without photos. There could have been any number of reasons (problems) for it being offered at $28. It may have been improperly cleaned, altered, etc. and yes, it could have been a fake.

Also, the Red Book is not a good reference for values.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm heading back to the flea market this coming Saturday, I will be there as the doors open. Hopefully no one else picked it up.

i don't remember what year it was, there were about 7 or 8 Morgans and a couple Peace dollars.

I'm heading back to the flea market this coming weekend. If it's still there I'm going to buy it and I'll post some pictures.

 

If you can get a CC Morgan for that price, I'd buy all that I could.

 

This is my $28 CC.

 

I returned this weekend to find that the CC Morgan was no longer there. Missed opportunity.
