Care to guess the grade on this Peace Dollar?

First of all, the flip this is stored in needs to be replaced as it is a bit old from appearances. Second, the photos are not very good what so ever and I am working on some that are better.. Third, that is just a piece of cardboard dust that moves around, so it isn't stuck to the dollar at all.

Hard to say, think I'd have to turn that one under a light. Could be anywhere from AU to 64. Right now I'm leaning towards AU.

There isn't as much luster as other ones I have. Certainly not the luster of my 22D but aren't most of the "s" minted Peace Dollars a bit tough for high grades?

Looked like a D to me, but you have it in hand. As for luster - it would be breaks in the luster that will hold that one down, not the lack of it. The marks alone will keep it under 65.

Its a 34s and I figured even if it makes AU58 that would be nice...especially as it is a lower Peace Dollar with just 1,011,000 minted.

Think this one is worth sending in for grading since it is a low mintage and if in the AU 55-58 range would carry a decent price..

Go for it. Maybe you'll get lucky.

I don't normally send anything in for a grade but thought this one might be worth giving a shot considering the possibilities.. First I will try getting some better photos and getting it out of this old looking flip and into something nicer.

Peace dollars are tough. If I had to say I would also go with AU58. Nice coin!

I would be happy with AU58 or MS60 on this as I am not expecting it to go mid MS or at least that wasn't my initial thought at any rate..

Well as the key coin to the set I know if it was mine it would get a acetone bath and a new safety flip with submission data for PCGS on it and make the trip to Newport Beach. BTW a AU55 or 58 would be welcome at my house anytime one of the few I don't already have in that grade.

I agree it would/could benefit with a dip but, I can't dip it as I've never done that before and there is also no one in this area that is a dealer or anyone I know here that could. I do think it should be sent for grade and photo though, PCGS would be the best choice but I am not a member there although I am for NGC.

  16. AU55 all day, maybe AU58. I would send it to PCGS for sure. Nice coin. TC

    Thanks!!

Speaking of which, as I am not a member of PCGS are there any dealers here that are and have any of you submitted any coins for other members? If so, feel free to pm me with some info.
