New addition, and a variety I have only seen once before. It has what looks like beads on the curved lines below "Caracas" and on the opposite sides there are 4-pointed rosettes instead of single or triple dots. I know there are contemporary counterfeits, but as far as I know those are "German silver", much higher quality, and dated 1819. Interested in hearing your thoughts on this one
Ummm, very cool lookin' coin .... the reverse is super cool (love the lions & castles) Hopefully it's a winner (but sadly, not even close to my coin collecting area of non-expertise) Good luck & Cheers
I know this is an old thread, but wanted to update with an exact identification. I have found out that this variety is cataloged by Stohr as type D, which is the only one of a handful of varieties for this year that has the beaded waves. Full attribution: Variety "d" according to Thomas Stohr. Obverse: without "A" in "PLV-SVL-TRA". Medium date. Obverse Waves type III. Reverse: Castle type I, Lion type II, Arches type III Source: http://www.numismatica-venezuela.info This is a very useful site, as the Stohr catalog can be very elusive and also expensive.
