Don't know. Maybe it's regional because I don't see that happening here. Personally, I'd never buy an item while it's "hot" as you're more likely to pay more than it's worth and you'll regret it later. Wait for the fad to pass to buy.

Yep - been hot around here also. The last two trips to the local shop they have been picked over. The only good thing was that the last trip they had just finished putting out a bunch of bust halves from a collection in the special box. What they do is usually put out 1 in the case for like 1806 or 1807 - then the rest go into a box they keep in the back. I think they had about 4 or 5 1806's, bunch from the 20's and 30's. All I bought was the 1807 CBH. When I saw it I thought it was a little over priced, but got it anyway. The only ones I really recall were the overdates - there were a ton of those. I think they had 3 1817/3 and a lot of them were nice. Still I got one I did not have.

PS - you can check Harlan J Berk. I think they had 7 or 8 1832's listed. They are a little high, but at least you get to see what you are getting.

I bought the 1807 CBH not one of the 1817/3. I could not have afforded all of the ones I wanted.

I haven't seen a quality bust half in a while, the couple I do see regularly aren't worth it which is why they are still in the shop
