cant understand how this quarter got deformed this way?

    Was at a local bar and i was given this because it didnt fit in the pool machine. Its an Ohio State Quarter that is extremely indented on both sides (the pictures dont give it justice how high the ridges are. As soon as you touch it you know something is wrong.). It is almost like someone took a hammer that is exactly .5 of a cm smaller then a quarter and pounded it perfectly on both sides.

    Wlecome to the forum!

    More than likely it is what is called a "dryer coin", one which is rotated in a circular mechanism, so the rim becomes higher and the diameter of the coin decreases. Damaged.
