Hi everyone. I am brand new to the site and also coin collecting. I am looking for some guidance. A few years back I came across a toony that had a stamping error and thought I should probally hold on to it until I could have someone check it out. And so here we are. I would appreciate if if someone could tell me if this adds any value to the coin and if so, does any one have a ballpark figure on the value. Thanking you in advance for your help.
That sure looks like a genuine Mint error. Unfortunately, I know very little about bi-metalics or how they are minted. This is an era where I would like to learn more about.
Well, you got my curiosity up, so this is what I have learned. Click on the link below, and you will learn as well. LINK
This looks to me like the type of variety caused by a misaligned strike. My 2004 Charlton catalogue has a comprehensive section on varieties and lists a premium over the regular value for the coin of from $5.00 to $10.00. The value of the coin without the error in MS-60 is $3.00 CDN.

Jen, You have tagged into a thread that is 5 years old. : ) The opening poster posted once and has not posted again. Can you post pictures here of the coin you have?
error toonie thanks for that - I am a loser sometimes LOLOL I found the post I thought I replied to in the first place I sold my toonie but here is a photo of it
That certainly is interesting. I hope you got a decent price for it when you sold. I dont know what its worth, but it should bring some type of premium.
