Hi. Posted this before but no answers so I thought I'd try again. Can anyone tell me if their is any difference in value between Canadian Maple Leafs from the following years: 1979 1980 1985 1989 1990 Also, do these hold any numismatic value or are they just worth the price of gold. They are all pretty similar to the ones pictured.
Sorry, I don't know off the top of my head, but a Google or Ebay search would give you the answer easily.
I know that the silver Maple Leafs demand higher prices for certain years , I think it would depend on the mintage for that particular year.
I am not sure how much difference this makes in the value of the gold but in 79 and 80 the gold was .999 , and in 83 to 90 the leafs were .9999 . It seems like a very small percentage so I am not sure if that would affect the price . There were also more minted in 79 and 80 then in the others years you asked about. So I would expect the 85, 89 , and 90 would sell for a premium due to somewhat of a lower mintage of approx. 100K, 120K less than 79 and 80 . I may be wrong so maybe a gold buyer will chime in to give you a better answer.
First time I saw this so welcome to CT. I would think Maple Leafs command a premium for certain years but I have no idea what years. Have you done a search on the Internet?
