Canadian Ladder!

Discussion in 'Paper Money' started by TheSilverpicker, Dec 19, 2020.

  1. Hi All, I recently came into possession of an incredible Canadian $1 banknote with a "fancy" serial number. This 1954 $1 note is a perfect ladder: 1234567. It's been quite difficult for me to get a handle on the value, as not many comps are public. Anyone have any insight as to what this might be worth? Thanks! A similar note sold in 2019 for just under $300.

Very nice note. Not easy to come by. Never found one (US) in circulation.

  6. Thanks for posting! I also saw that, but isn't a 1234567 serial number more desirable than 6543210? If so, does that make it worth a bit more or a TON more?

Sorry, I’m not familiar with pricing for fancy Canadian notes. I’m more familiar with modern U.S. ladders, which contain 8 digits. If you want to know what people would pay, put it on eBay with a ridiculous Buy it Now price AND take offers. See what offers you get without having to sell it.

IDK but I think 1234567 would be a more desirable SN.

  9. That's what my thought would be. But is it 20% more or like 10x more? That's what I'm having trouble figuring out.

It's always what someone is willing to pay.
And US notes bring more. However, it is a good number but 10x doesn't seem realistic. If the paper quality and grade of the note is equal to the one in post #3,
it should be a little higher. But, in an auction setting it could go for less. All things being equal, if that one sold for $288 then the OP note should be $325 or so.
