Canadian half dollar error?

I recently came across a very interesting 1956 Canadian half in a junk silver lot. The Elizabeth head has a large ovalish extra peice of metal located on/directly above the eye. Looking at it from an angle it makes the queen appear to have an alien type eye. Very cool, does anyone know of errors like this or have another possible explanation? Pics will be up in an hour or so

Absent a pic the only thing we can do is guess. If it's a raised blob of metal chances are it's a die chip.
    Waiting on a pic.:smile

The metal rises out of the coin and the sides connecting it are all smooth and appear natural.

Anyone see the alien eye connection?

Look on the reverse below the 5 of 50 where the crown meets the shield. There is a punchmark there where something has been punched into the coin. This caused a raised bulge on the obverse above the eye.

Thanks, that should have been one of the first things I looked for. It appears to be a single slit that somehow displaced enough metal to baloon the effects larger on the other side. Still gonna keep it for the collection.
