I got his 1900 .25 Canadian fractional today. I know nothing about fractionals, but I have been wanting to get started on them. I paed $15, did I get an okay deal?
I personally love fractionals! I know little of Canadian Fractionals except that that note was engraved by the American Bank Note Company! This is the same company that did the engraving of the US Fractionals on certain issues. Look at the 4th issue 25 cent note's reverse and you will see a very similar image on the Canadian reverse...... Nice note none the less. I would suggest looking into the World Currency reference for a price guide... Thanks for sharing with us!! Show us some more! RickieB
This is my first fractional. I got it from the only coin shop around. I thought his shop was no good, until we decided to go yesterday. He has a lot of odds and ends. I got a VF two cent peice for $12, a 1950 Canadaian dollar($6), and an 1892 Columbian Expodition commem($8). The canadian fractional i gto was origionally being sold at $25, but after I told him I didn't have enough money, he lowered it to 15.
In this context, it is refering to a part of a whole. Just as a modern example of a quarter being a .25 fraction of 1 dollar. 25/100 You can use this example on all currencies and coins depending on what the "whole unit" is based on. Hope that helps... RickieB
