I have a roll of uncirculated Canadian "toonies" or "twonies" whichever way you want to spell it. I bought these on the first day they were issued and have never opened the plastic wrap. Some time ago I was told that the first circulated coins were recalled because the center would drop out in cold weather. Is this true? and if so is this roll of any particular value. Thanks
This may be true but the majority of twonies in change are from that first year,in fact 7 of 9 coins in my jar waiting to be rolled are from 1996,and I have never seen it happen. My impression was that those few that did separate were, shall we say, "violently induced".Of course, I could be wrong. Bill
I tried this once - just stick 'em in the freezer, and then when they're good and frozen, you can pop out the centers rather easily. I doubt it's gonna happen naturally, most of the time, anyways. ~AJ
Well we all know what a tropical paradise Canada is, specially in the winter. So I can't imagine the centers naturally popping out either Sorry I don't know anything about how much they are worth beyond face value.
I remember in HS when the coin came out. We used to try separate them out and use the ring as pendants or keychain. Pretty easily done actually. Find a pebble and put the coin on the ground with the core over the pebble. Stump on the coin and the centre will pop out. We also used to put pennies on railroad tracks. That was fun.
I have a circulated (good example it's not litteraly GOOD condition in gradin g i'm just telling you guys that it's a nice example sorry for the long thingie) example of a 2$ coin
