Canadian 50 cent => *rats* => I'm only "one away" => but such a long way away (*sigh*)

So I have "almost" completed one of my awesome old-school coin albums (the album itself was published in 1959!! ... how awesome!!?)

... sadly, the very last coin is the dreaded "1947 Maple Leaf, Curved Seven" (a coin that I've only seen once at auction and stupidly, I assumed that my bid was gonna win!! ... apparently not!!)

Anyway => even a VF of this variety has a book vale of $3000 ... and honestly, a VF would look a bit like a pig with make-up on when compared against the other coins in this album (EF+) ... oh, and EF of this variety goes for $4000 ... and my wish-list so that it goes along with the rest of the album's coins => an AU-50 is $5000 (that's a whole lotta cash!!)

    *sigh*

Oh well ... maybe one day I'll see the elusive coin once again (and hopefully I'll have a bit of loose-change to jump on it!!?)

Blah-Blah-Blah ... so, I'd like to show-off my Canadian 50-cent piece album (only "1" coin missing!!) ... sorry about the poor photos (the coins are certainly way-nicer than they appear!!)

    Cheers, my Canadian coin brothers!!

I apologize once again for the photo quality ... hey, I'm a geeky, coin-collecting mining engineer, not a photographer!!?

    :nice-smile:

Im gonna spend a lot of time, slowly rollin' out four coins at a time (and sadly, I'm only gonna do the reverses) ... but note, the obverses can be seen in my previous post (if you squint your eyes, they're all MS-65)

    :hail:

... anyway ... I love this album ... it is certainly one of my "atta-boyz"

=> sorry, but that 1947 Maple Leaf may not be a curved-seven, but it is also a total winner => originally slabbed as an MS-62 (yah, I cracked that dawg right outta it's slab so that it could hang with its brothers ...maybe not a "lucrative" move, but that baby needed to be in this 54 year old album => they didn't have "slabs" 54 years ago!!!)

    :high5:

Sorry => but 1948 also had to have a bit of "prestige" ... only "37,784" minted .... oh my!!

=> ooops => yes, I know => but I was young, so I "wrote" in that wonderful album (oh well, maybe when my grand-nephew eventually decides to sell these coins, then maybe I'll have become a "coin God"??) .... ummm, or maybe not (*sigh*)

    ;)

Hey, thanks for suffering through that agonizing show of computer/photgraphy skilz!! (*yikes*)

=> hopefully, you realize that my intentions were to portray just how wonderful I feel about "almost" completing this wonderful 54 year old album!!! .... I love these coins and hopefully I was able to show just how "gosh-darn" awesome it feels to build this great collection!!

    => I love this hobby!!

    cheers

I have the 48 ... all i need is the 1947 maple Leaf Curved Seven (man, even typing it out is a chore!!) ... but so far, "no", no leads on the missing 1947 ... but I keep an eye out whenever I get an auction notice (like a cheetah in the reeds) ...

    Hi Ripley

    Thanks for the coin-compliment

Wow Steve, that is a fantastic set. I especially like that it's housed in a LOC album.
Some serious stunners in there. It always rough when they put a slot in the album for a very tough coin. They weren't as tough in 1959 when the album was made. :)
Good luck in your quest of completion.

Steve, you should invest in a scanner. There must be something not too pricey that give decent results with coins. No "special skills" needed... :computer:

Your coins are worth a better rendering imo

PS... I mean scanner... not scanner... :D

    Very nice Steve!

    I agree with Dionysos...

An All-in-one printer and scanner should be easy enought to put together...
If my grandfather can do it, so can you Steve (same profession, same story with technology)
