Only a few of the major world currencies used in trade have a coin that approaches Can$5 in value. Off the top of my head, the Japanese 500-yen and the Swiss 5 francs are major exceptions. No circulation coin has the same equivalent in Australia ($2), New Zealand ($2), the USA (25 cents in reality), the European Union 2-euro and the British 2-pounds.
Funny you mention that. Two weeks ago I got a Swiss 5 francs in change from a gas station while driving through Switzerland. I have a 5 francs among my older silver Swiss coins, but until getting this I didn't realize they still issued fivers. It's now residing in the "countries visited" collection.
Imho, all the kids now a days wants to use credit to pay for everything. I don’t see it very plausible.
