OK, here is the scoop, I purchased these two coins as a set. One is supposed to be High Relief, the other Low.

According to my knowledge the High Relief Obverse is: A in Gratia points to a rim denticle

Low Relief the A in Gratia points between the denticles.

I see these both as pointing to.. ie.. High..

How about some other views here?

    Thanks

Hello Jim M, They both look like Hi-Relief to me with a value of about $.80 in XF. I'll admit the (2nd A) in the 2nd coin looks to be more towards the edge of the denticle than the 1st, but still not between. I used a 2006 Krause world coin book 1901-2000 to help with IDing :)

I have the same problem with the one cent 48 and 49. It's not easy to tell but in my opinion, the coin on the left is high relief and the one on the left is low. They do look a bit different to me.

Those are both high-relief, you can also tell by where the 'I' points, and the left side of the 'T'.
$825 CDN in VF20, which Im sure you know, since you have the book.
They are both 'beaver' design and not the 1751-1951 comm. nickel design right?
Thats a pretty big mistake for a seller to make, did you get those off ebay or?

Yes I picked them up on the bay as a set. I know the value, I just can't get past the fact that they were the same, even though they are labeled on the 2x2's as hi and low. Guess I will relabel and toss em in collection. Now I have to find a low to complete it though. : )

Thanks everyone, I thought it was just my wishful thinking at work and wanted to make sure.

Happy New Year to Everyone. My wish is that each and everyone of you have a prosperous New Year. (And if you do, you share some of that wealth with your local coin dealer) THEN, share the pics with us...

OOPS, was looking at the value of the 1952 Hi-Relief. The Krause is kinda confusing...

I still say the coin on the left is low relief, the A doesn't point exactly at the denticle like the other one does.

    From CCN trends:
    VG $250.00
    F $600.00
    VF $800.00
    EF $1500.00
    AU $2250.00

It's the final "A" in gratia that we should be looking at. It sure seems to be pointing between to me.The values I gave for the HR are in $CDN from the latest issue of Canadian Coin News.
