Folks, I did a quick, non-inclusive search of the site to get a bit more information on another odd duck I found going through boxes of stuff. I ran across this undated Canadian token. Is it have any interesting provenance? Would love to know more about it and approximate date of production. The "obverse" design looks similar to a bunch of hard times tokens that I have. Never ran across a Canadian hard times token before. Thanks in advance . Y'all are a bunch of Einstein's . . . . . I'll take mo' betta photos if you think it warrants. Yeah, I know, watch the staples. Most everything I have is "protected" by staples . . . . . . . Zoid the ignorant.
Coinandcanada.com seems to be out at the moment. They have a nice pictoial display of Province tokens. Found this on Numista. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces83893.html
I tried to find something similar on Ebay to compare it to. I'm guessing it's pretty common even though not heavily represented on Ebay? Z
Very helpful and cool links, thanks. Numista rarity index of 92, nice. Would you say this one would grade VF or XF from what you can see? More research is definitely in order. Z
Zippy Kitty looked it up in the Charlton Book and says it's a better variety, but not something to retire on. She says that the common tokens are worth a Coors Light +/-, but this might be worth a good craft brewery IPA or 2.
