frosted5cents 001.jpg frosted5cents 008.jpg i was organizing years of my canada 5 cent pieces tonight and from today i got a few rolls at the store to go through. i came across a 1994 canada 5cent piece that looks like a whitey silver frost color. i thought it might have been just a stain but its all the coin. so i just washed it in warm water. with a little soap and no color change i compared it with all the coins from that year about 18 diff 5 cent pieces. its really different. so heres a couple of comparison pics, if anyone know what it is please let me know thanks, or opinions..is it a dye issue?

I have a couple of different dates with the satin finish and all I could find out about them was that they were released with both finishes but the mint did not indicate how many of each there were. I couldn't find out anything else.

so its not an error, you mean the mint actually released coins this color on purpose..

I couldn't get a definite answer one way or the other. Even the dealers that I showed it to, all had different answers but really weren't all that interested in it. I kept all mine (just in case!):D
