Large Detailed shot. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kostynracing/4888228867/sizes/l/in/photostream/ Let me know what you think. I can get it for $140-$150. What VAM number am I looking at? Click the "original"" to see the huge version. Ben
It looks like it might be the VAM-38 (7/5). The most recent sale was $295 earlier this year for one in MS63. Chris
I would buy it! You should check out vamworld.com They have a good pictures for most VAM's and have some very Knowledgeable vam specialists that post regularly.
That's what I did, and I'm pretty sure it's the VAM-38. It has the same obverse doubling, the same tailfeather configuration and even the same polished lower feather on the bottom of the right wing. Chris
If you're looking at the "Bible", you've got to remember that the 4th Edition was published in 1991. Leroy sends annual updates via the mail, but you must buy them. VAM-41 isn't even close. The tailfeather configuration is completely different and the VAM-41 has the die gouge on Liberty's Phrygian cap which isn't on this one. Also, I don't think the VAM-41 has the strong obverse doubling on the date, LIBERTY and the "R" of PLURIBUS or the polished wingfeather like this one. Chris
Thanks for the help! I was able to get TWO VAM-38s. One was in MS-61 and the other in MS-62. Both were PCGS graded as 7 over 8 TF only with no VAM listed, but BOTH are 38s. Thanks again Chris! You were right on the mark! Ben
