My 72 DDO arrived and it looked more shiny than the sales photo.
How can I tell if the coin has been cleaned?
Purchased from Westwood Collectibles and I plan to send to PCGS this weekend.

I took a few photos what do you think?

    Thank you so much!

It looks polished to me. Assuming it's genuine, it'll come back from PCGS with a details grade.

It's a regular business strike coin and it should have cartwheel luster, and it shouldn't be "shiny" as you've described. Also note the long streaking vertical hairlines in the fields.

Can you post a straight on obverse and reverse picture out of the flip?

The 5th and 6th images are showing a lot of hairlines.
    I find that disturbing.

Man, I am sorry to say this. I hate to rain on anyone’s parade. But that sure has all the earmarks of being polished.

How much value does cleaning details hurt the value? 25% 50%?
    Thank you EVERYONE!

I can get one already certified and straight graded for a little more $$

It's hard to say how much it diminishes the value, but I would definitely return it at that price. Your money would be better spent shelling out just a tad more cash for a problem-free example that is already graded.

Crappy photos by the seller. 99% of the time it means they are hiding something.

I agree with the above. It does also appear to be slightly circulated. Your photos shows it more in focus. I don't like the lapels of the coat and the edge of the coin. I would recommend sending it to ANACS or ICG first as they are very good graders and will tell you the grade and if detail. They usually have specials and if it is the only coin you have ready to grade, hold it off until you get about 10 at least to divide up the mailing costs and fees. Then if you get good grading you can send to PCGS.

It looks like the photo used online was touched up. The coin itself looks to shiny and it probably won't straight grade. I'd return it for a full refund.

    I bought some 1947 P/D/S, graded NGC/PCGS MS66RD for about $20 each.

Good decision in my opinion and welcome to CT. With the coin showing obvious circulation wear, it has been cleaned, IMHO.
